Sarakki lake conjointly referred to as Jaraganahalli lake, is found within the southern part of Bangalore, within the residential area of the J.P. Nagar.it is one in every of the most important lakes in Bangalore and it is located on Puttenahalli. The lake at one time lined a part of eighty-four acres.

It was once referred to as ‘Saavira Hakki Kere’ for the thousands of birds it hosted till the lake shrank and also the water began to deteriorate in 2012. prof KS Bhat an academician who has worked at the Administrative training institute in Hyderabad and taught at the London School of economics is one of the key members of the Sarakki lake improvement trust (SLAIT). It includes Jagannathan, who retired as director-general of police Karnataka, senior advocate Hari prasad and chartered accountant R Joisa, along with technocrats, scientists and engineers. Together they need to be been indefatigably operating for the lake beside over one hundred young volunteers living in JP Nagar. In many lakes, we learned that the STP(sewage treatment plants) are not functioning as the electricity bills are huge.

Sarakki lake known as the home of thousands of birds is being rejuvenated and developed by the citizens, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).
